Kazuto Adachi, ASA, CPCU

Kazuto is an executive vice president responsible for business valuations in Japan. He has completed financial valuations of closely held businesses, business interests, capital stock, stock options, intellectual property and intangible assets for purposes including mergers and acquisitions, restructuring of businesses, purchase price allocation, impairment testing, fairness opinions and estate planning. He has completed more than 400 valuations of assets and business interests.  His valuation experience includes more than 100 purchase price allocation analyses based on US GAAP, IFRS and Japan GAAP.

Kazuto joined American Appraisal in 2002 and has been in his current position since 2007. Previously, he spent approximately 20 years in one of the largest insurance companies in Japan, during which time he held various positions including underwriter and corporate planning manager.

Kazuto has made about 30 speeches on various subjects, including Impairment Issues in Valuations,”  “Accounting for Intellectual Property and Valuation Practice in the USA,” and “Practices in Purchase Price Allocation.” He has written about intangible asset valuation for Turnaround Manager magazine and is the author of the 2011 book Business Valuation.
