Varun is the managing director responsible for overall management of operations in India, including technical direction and client management on complex engagements. He has more than 16 years of experience in valuation and financial advisory services and is part of the firm’s global strategic advisory board.

Varun advises clients on valuation issues in relation to mergers, acquisitions, build-vs.-buy decisions, swap ratio determination, collateral valuation (especially when intangible assets are used as collateral) and financial reporting.

Varun has been in his current position since 2008. Prior to joining American Appraisal, he worked with Deloitte, leading a team of 70 professionals in providing valuation services to US-based clients in relation to valuation of investments, purchase price allocation and impairment testing under US GAAP and IFRS. Varun was also a key member of a team set up to develop and implement standard valuation methodologies across the firm. Previously, he worked at PwC’s Financial Advisory Services practice in India, focusing on valuation and project finance.

• More than a dozen valuation workshops organized by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI), where he shared his knowledge and experience in valuation of intangible assets, and conducted case studies on valuation approaches

• Key speaker on valuation of trademarks at a recent International Trademark Association (INTA) Roundtable
