TMA Conference - Polish Insolvency
The Turnaround Management Association launched a conference about current developments in the Polish restructuring marketing. Henryk Ciesielski lectured on bankruptcy in Poland - opportunities, regulations and risks.
The presentation focused on the current developments and trends for the restructuring process from the specific perspective of the Polish market. Over the years, German investors have played a key role in the Polish market. In the current economic climate, Polish companies - potential investment targets or subsidiaries of German corporations - may be exposed to their business partners' defaults and resultant insolvencies.
Mainly due to the Polish market dynamic, Poland was not as strongly affected by the credit crunch as were Western European countries. Nevertheless, the turbulence of the financial markets and their effects on the real economy can be observed to some extent, in the Polish economy. Moreover, the situation is more specific as in the last five years, the Polish financing market experienced very strong development in capital markets - a dynamic expansion of the Warsaw Stock Exchange in terms of IPOs and new segments, as well as the classical financing market, which gained higher awareness and prevalence with more mature products like messanine or structured finance.
